Product Description
Sometimes in order to make things better you need to take them back to their original design. With that being said here we have the all new and at the same time like the original NR83A5. The NR83A5 has the same legendary durability and reliability you have come to trust with Hitachi, but now with an improved trigger design and sharing all the same internal parts as the original NR83A. Relying on the same cylinder valve drive system as the original NR83A from the 80's, the NR83A5 offers both a rapid response and some serious driving power. With the power to drive 2” – 3-1/4” nails into even the toughest materials and tool-less depth of drive for convenient flexibility, there is no job this tool can’t handle. With the selective actuation now on the trigger we not only reduced the total number of parts in the trigger but also eliminated all composite parts.

If you want a heafty, old school, superbly built framing nailer this is the one...It will drive 3 1/4" length by .148 diameter nails with ease at 90 PSI..Even older wood...The Bostitch LPF21PL and the Hitachi NR90AES1 I tried required 105 PSI plus to fully drive the .148 nails...This also means the the NR83A5 will drive more nails with less air, so the smaller CFM requirement might prevent you from having to buy a larger compressor...
At nine pounds it certainly is no light weight, but the extra weight prevents excessive bounce, IMHO...While the trend in nailers is for less weight which is certainly welcome, but knowing the brute Hitachi NR83A5 is still available is certainly welcome as well...

Pull the pin under the trigger, slide the safety mechanism to the opposite position and replace the pin for rapid fire.
Whoever designed the hook needs to wear a belt for a year before they are let back indoors.
Spend the extra money and you won’t look back.
One thing I don't like is that the rafter hook. The rafter hook was in the way some times, hard to use on some corners, dose not fold away and it would bend out often doesn't seem like the hook will last.
Other than that the nail gun preformed very well.
