Katu VS traditional casters:

Traditional rubber casters are made of a very cheap, soft rubber which, after a short amount of time, peels and separates from the caster.

The Katu rubber PU is just soft enough, so it will never come off of the caster. Therefore, it will not scratch wood or any other type of flooring.

On traditional rubber casters, dirt from the floor sticks to the rubber very easily and is almost impossible to clean. Over time,the dirt becomes a hard layer and scratches floors.

The rubber PU of the Katu casters has the perfect balance, so dirt will not stick to it. If the casters come in contact with some dirt, they can simply be cleaned with a damp cloth.

The body of traditional caster are made of a very cheap plastic or nylon, causing them to break easily and shortens the life of the wheel.

The body of Katu casters are made of Nylon PA6, PA6 is the strongest plastic used for casters.

High Quality Rubber Casters, Rolls Smoothly and Quietly, Very Durable!

I ordered a total of 22 sets of these KATU rubber casters (for myself and the rest of our office staff). At first, I was a bit skeptical, with so little reviews, but after reading through all the descriptions and reviews of other competitors, I decided to give these KATU rubber casters a shot. When they arrived, I quickly replaced our old casters with these new rubber casters and they were very easy to replace. They all popped right into place without issue. The reason I bought so many was because our office was recently renovated with hardwood floors and we needed something durable, yet soft that would not scratch the floors and would last a long time. It's been a week now and there has not been any issues at all. If you're worried about the rubber casters being difficult to roll around (like the feeling of rolling on carpet), don't worry, these are not like the other competitors out there. These rubber casters roll very smoothly and quietly across our wood floors and seem very durable. No issue with scratching or with any heavy set users. I will continue to observe throughout the next few months and may update if there are any issues, but as of now, all 22 of these are doing great! I will be ordering a few more, as we are adding more chairs in the office.

Before I put these wheels on, I used to use a pair of rubber/plastic “bumpy” mats made out of a recycled material to cancel the sound of the original plastic wheels on my hardwood floor and to keep the chairs (2) from sliding around when I sat on them. But the mats where hard to clean and they would collect tons of debris from things that I ate and dirt from my shoes when I came from outside, but I was content that I had stability and silence for that trade-off. (for 15 yrs), but then I got tired of the dirt and debris and I looked for some “wheel rubber covers” on Amazon and came across these wheels as an alternative, and let me tell you, you get the silence and can keep the stability, plus enjoy the beauty of the hard wood floor. When I first opened the box these wheels came in and inspected the them, I was kind of skeptical cause they seem to be made out of glossy plastic and thought they were going to make noise on the hardwood floor, but I was impressed once I swapped them and sat on the chairs (after cleaning the floor). The chairs don’t roll all over and are very quiet as well as look better than the old ones.

No, not for wood floors

I bought KATU BB506-38 replacement casters for use on polyurethaned hardwood floors. On arrival, you could see a distinct sharp 'ridge' on the inside edge of both wheels in each caster. No coating, no PU covers, no soft texture, just hard plastic-y C-shaped inner wheels. I took a piece of 2x4" wood, ran the caster over it with my bare hands and it left a scratch/indent where the edges ran! I ran the original caster (used for about 5 years), it did NOT leave a scratch. Both left a very faint 'pressure' mark (not a physical black mark, more of a shine where I was bearing down on the wood), but tiny grooves from the KATU were definitely there. No way I'd use these on hardwood floors. The KATU casters were nicely packaged and looked solidly built, would probably be great on tile or other hard slick surfaces. But not on my wood floors :( Back to researching softer (maybe true rubber?) wheels. Kudus to Amazon for their great no-hassle refund process.

I can't see that they are any different or sturdier than the casters costing half as much. It's too much trouble to send them back, but I expect they will succumb to my cement floor as quickly as the less-expensive ones. If that doesn't happen, I'll let you know. But as of now, they look, feel, weigh, and seem constructed exactly the same as the less-expensive casters.

Perfect, old ones pulled right off, New one snapped right in. I'm using them on kitchen chairs which rolls on cushioned vinyl floor. The old plastic wheels apparently ( according to manufacturer ) caused the vinyl to delaminate from backing voiding the warrantee. Had it repaired & am hoping the rubber wheels will be gentler. They are quieter!
