very easy to install the belt and get it to track correctly... the clear plastic front is a great benefit... motor is powerful and runs the belt evenly at all speed levels... dust pickup is good... I use it on a down draft table so I don't have any dust issues... sander is heavier than others I own, but this was a benefit as well... just the weight of the sander, is good for most of my sanding needs... would buy this sander again...

Actually for the price , the rig does pretty good. It balances well and the belt tracking is easy to adjust on the fly With the smaller size of the 3x21 belt it is highly manuverable and easily controlled My greatest likes with this machine is that The dust collection system actually puts the majority of the dust in the bag and not all over your clothing unlike some of the other competitors and it is way quieter than the Porter Cable unit that reminded me of standing beside a air raid siren while using it I would have given this 5 stars but this particular specimen is developing a squeechy front roller that may need some TLC sometime in the future. YMMV All in all I am well pleased with my purchase and would buy it again should the need arise

Works well but feels a bit unbalanced. If set on a flat surface the sander will tip to its left side.The dust collector bag does an amazing job of inhaling the sanding debris.

Takes off materiel well , will need to be in good shape to operate as its a heavy tool. 21" belt seems to dance a lot but can be easily adjusted with a knob that could have been positioned in a better location. Ok for the price as Hitachi is known for producing quality power tools.

I purchased mine refurbished. This is the first time I am using a belt sander, so I have no comparison. It does do a great job, easy to handle; The belt does need to constantly be adjusted to stay centered, but that could be me. Other than that, I think it's great!
