I have used several brands of shavers, and overall I have had the best luck with the Braun products. This is the most expensive shaver I have ever purchased, but so far I am very impressed with its performance. It shaves closely, and it has by far the longest battery-charged time I have ever experienced. The proof of this pudding, however, will be how long it performs well. My experience with Panasonic shavers, for example, has been that they shave very well for several months, and then they don't--and replacing the relatively expensive screens and cutters never bring them back to their original shaving capacity; so we'll see with this Braun unit. I have marked my evaluation down by a star because this unit doesn't have a trimmer, which I use to keep my sideburns cut off square. It also doesn't have a plastic top cap which helps to protect the shaver's screen. These two reservations, however, are relatively minor. So far so very good with my new series 7 shaver.Read full review

I have owned and used 3 other Braun series 7 shavers in the past. They were excellent and all Series 7 shavers were able to use the clean and renew station. This shaver is made to look exactly the same as the others but it is not the same. I called up Braun and the rep said it has the EXACT same contact points needed for the clean and renew station(no other use for these contacts) and looks EXACTLY the same in EVERY WAY, but is made of a much cheaper material that can't hold up to cleaning in the clean and renew station. It will FALL APART! If they didn't make it to deceive customers, why is it exactly the same in looks, extra contact points(only used in the Braun clean and renew station) and exact same color and configuration as the shavers that can be used in the clean and renew station? The ebay seller said her auction did not say it could be used in the Braun clean and renew. I guess I should have known somehow! NOW YOU KNOW. I hope the readers of this review don't get scammed like I did!Read full review

I bought my first Braun in 1980. That was some 35 years ago. Since then this is my 3rd Braun for me. So it's the best German engineering machine ever built for shaving. I buy them and give them as xmas presents for friends relatives. They are expect a rough shave but in reality, the skin is left like a Baby's bottom. My lady is supper glad how my skin is left after the shave compared with some of the American machines. Get one and do the comparison. You'll never go back to the competition,,,,

I had an old 7 series (7526) that I loved but wouldn't take a charge anymore. I tried a 5 series but it was just not the same. Well that was totally over when I got the series 7 740s Wet & Dry shaver. What I thought was a great shave, the 740s just did so much better than what I've experienced with my old 7526. The shaver weighs less than the old one. And most of all, I'm cord free until the battery runs out, which really takes a while after a full charge. Great shaver I would highly recommend to all.

I've used a rotary razor for 10's of years but don't like the design of the new ones. I was also concerned about the reviews of them so I went with something different. It has taken me a couple weeks to get used to not swirling my hand like I used to with the rotary. Once I got that figured out, this new Series 7 works well for me. I think it does a better job on my neck and is a least as good on the remainder of my face. The only negatives are it's a little noisier than my rotary and the trimmer is a little but ackward for me to see around. I highly recommend it!
