I read the book in about 2 hours, give or take a 1/2 an hour to walk Loki for his nightly walk, among the mosquitoes trying to bite me every chance they get. Mrs. Rowe, I fell in love with your mother, she is a cross between my mother, Great Aunt Ila, both of my grandmothers and a couple of my aunts. You wrote this with your heart. What a great way to honor your mother and your family. I grew up as a tomboy, with a mother who is a die hard Cub Fan. Every time you described your Mom's love of the Orioles and how she would react to a game, I see my mom and I am laughing and crying at the same time, she would do the same kind of things. I see that as a blessing for the both of us. Without baseball where would we be. I am fortunate that Mom and Dad have been married for 66 years and counting. I wish John and you all the best any many more years, so we have more stories. I am one of your son's little facebook friends. You write with wit and love. I want a follow-up book, on John, you and your boys. I am sure there are plenty more little snippets of your life that we can enjoy.Read full review

Growing up as a tomboy near Baltimore with a very neat and proper (except with regard to Orioles baseball) has got to lead to a lot of kooky stories. And it does! From wearing leather fringe jackets and cowboy boots to church to being the catalyst for Mom throwing the opening pitch at an Orioles game, Peggy Rowe tells the stories with a cheerful and flowing style. I'm glad I bought the book.

Peggy Rowe is an engaging, funny, and personal writer. I think one of the strengths of this book is that it's a collection of short stories, which are interesting enough to stand on their own, but the stories are told with the timeline of the author's growing up years interwoven into each story, which gives the book a thought provoking and cohesive linear timeline. So even though it's possible to read one short story and put the book down until you're ready to read more, I think readers will find it very challenging to stop reading! I loved the the nostalgia of her stories and the heartfelt emotions so evident in her writing. I highly recommend this book and will buy anything else she decides to write!

This book was wonderful. A must read for anyone who enjoys a great story. I laughed, I cried, and felt right along with the writer with every word. Thank you Peggy for such a great gift you shared with us all. It This will not let me submit another review but I had to add to this one. My mother has also read the book now and wanted you all to know she loved it too. She specifically wants me to tell you all..... It is just as good as all the Erma Bombek she read many years ago and hopes Peggy will write more. My is in her 70s. So being in my 40s I can say this book crosses generalrational lines and is a joy for both mother's and daughters of any age.

Awesome book! The dynamics between mother and daughter! I laughed, I cried and felt with all my heart the wonderful story unfold. It was written with such humor and very descriptive indeed! It made me miss my own mother who has been gone 12 years now. Peggy Rowe is absolutely the best story teller ( except I can hear it read in Mike’s voice)!! Love, love, loved it!
