I like the FM transmitter feature. I can use it with any FM receiver. With my boom-box I do not need a Home Docking Kit for my home receiver. I have had this same receiver in my truck for 4 years, and just purchased a replacement since it is no longer working properly. I didn't have to replace my Car Kit, so I am putting the other Car Kit into my boat. The receiver can easily be moved from the truck, boat, and boom-box.
The radio did contain an active subscription which fit in perfectly with my boombox. It also contained a home kit so I could hook it up to my home stereo (which I wasn't expecting) I love the easy to read display and the fact that I can change the colors (either amber or green, depending on my mood). The presets also worked perfectly so I could plug in my favorite stations.

I bought two of these radios from two different sellers. One of the radios lasted two months and it was unable to perform. The other radio is still going after two months. Both of these radios were activated. If the price if low enough, it's all right to buy one of these radios. However, paying anything beyond $75 for an activated radio is getting into risky territory. I rate this radio as a three since one radio blew up quickly (and the activation went with it) and the other radio still functions. My recommendation is to not use these radios more than an hour or so per day because they just can't take it. The radio that blew up was used 4+ hours per day during the two months while the other radio was used much less. Overall, don't buy one of these with a so-called "lifetime activation." First, all you get is the life of that radio for "lifetime," second, you can't transfer it because it was never transferred to you, third, there's just too much inflated of the value of these radios by sellers. Basically, you can take your chances if you've got plenty of money to blow, but otherwise be very cautious.Read full review
Receiver and dock in plastic, brand new, as promised. New SP-R1 receiver only transmits from 88.3 mHz to 94.1 mHz with low FM Xmit power. Old SP-R1 FM transmitter much more powerful and Xmitted from 87.5 mHz to top of FM band, but old SP-R1 died. So, I'm happy with the new SP-R1. I use Sirius for BBC on 118 and for Art Bill on 104. Music on Sirius is garbage and for fools. Too much New York attitude.
This is an excellent item that is worth every dime spent on it. Great flexibility, good sound, sturdy. Consumer remember there are several other items required before you can enjoy this lavish sound. You need a subscription to have access to satellite music as well as a device called a player to insert into the boom box before you can get sound. Be aware of this before you purchase this item. I WOULD recommend to a friend.
