We had XM in two of our three cars. This one was bought to go into the third one. Pretty plain that we like XM, isn't it? This was an easy installation as I already had wiring for an MP3 player installed in my stereo. Simply place the magnetic antenna where you want it, hide the wire behind molding as you bring it into the car and hook it into the mounting bracket. Power, antenna and speaker wires all plug into the bracket so you can easily take the receiver out and lock it in the trunk or take it with you to use in another receiver (XM in home receiver or another car). This easy removal appeals to me as the radio is in a convertible. Menu gives a wide variety of choices for display and the unit fits into the interior nicely. If it fits neatly in the Miata which is very small, it will fit most any car. Sound, of course, depends on the amplifier and speakers it plays through, and it is typical of XM. If you have a signal, sound is great. If something blocks you from the satellite, there is no sound until the signal is restored. No static to be irritated by when there is no signal. I found installation to be very simple on my car. If it is necessary to take your stereo out to access an input, installation would not be that simple my opinion and if you choose to install it to play through the FM radio, sound may suffer somewhat when you get in range of a signal on that frequency. All in all, I rate this very good and recommend it highly.Read full review
I bought this to replace a SkyFi2, and found that it is the same radio- ONLY 100% better. More features and easier to configure personal settings. My wife and kids use this radio most in her car and they couldn't be happier. They too say it is better than the original SkyFi2 radio we had in the car. I like that it is sleeker than the SkyFi2, smaller, has more display settings for personal tastes (which changes depending on the person using it in our cars), overall we love it. NOTE- You may find the SkyFi3 selling very cheaply! There is a very good reason for this- it stinks. Don't buy it! We have one of them and I am already thinking about finding another Xpress-R to get rid of it. You may pay more for the Xpress-R, but I can't tell you how much of a headache you will have working with the SkiFi3. The best middle/high portable sat. radio out there is the Xpress-R!Read full review
I can't live without XM Radio. When someone broke into my car and stole my unit in the process of ripping apart the dash, I was distraught. My original unit was also an XpressR with a lifetime subscription. I had the new radio professionally installed and now I take the radio out of the car at night. Don't want to chance ever being with out XM again!!!! If you have never tried XM satelite radio, you have no idea of what you are missing. (Remember TV before cable?) There are over 180 channels to listen to. Most without any commercials!!! And it comes CD+ quality without the CD/Ipod hassels. Heck, just DO IT, GET XM TODAY!!!
I had this exact same radio for years. One of the tabs on the knob finally came off and it was no longer usable, at least without the remote. I happened to find this same one on eBay. Great radio, came in original packaging with documentation and accessories.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: New
This is our second Audiovox Express. The radio is very versatile and very reliable. The first one is still works as good as new after several years. It works in the shop, the house or the car. An inexpensive 12v adapter allows using the radio on household power. I plug it into my home stereo or use a wireless headset. The remote has good range. The presets are very handy. I bought the second one for the convenience of keeping one in my shop.
