Not only does my refurbished Olympus TG-5 work flawlessly—but it came in what sure looked like new condition and was accompanied by all needed accessories to get started right away. I have so far used the camera only underwater only once—but I was blown away by the quality of the video! This camera is seriously “tough” and a joy to use. I have yet to explore all of its features, but it seems to be surprisingly advanced for such a small model. No regrets or complaints about this purchase. I’m impressed!

The TG-5 is a powerful camera crammed into a small body. With a LOT of features, it is not easy to master all those features (although you can get it to "point and shoot" with little effort). However, the image quality is far above many of the similar but less expensive models. Major pluses: Large image sensor, meaning that the image quality is very good, even in low light. You can expand the image and produce good quality at high magnification - something cheaper cameras cannot do. Also, for me, the "microscope" close-up feature is important. [The LED diffuser (option, sold separately) is a big help.] Minuses: The WiFi feature is nice, but difficult to use for transferring photos directly to a PC. It is designed to work only with a cell phone or tablet. Also, the batteries are "special" - meaning you need to keep spares on hand and charged. Read full review

Great little waterproof camera! As a kayak guide I take photos for my clients so they do not take their cell phones on the water. This camera works great, tough as nails, to make the clients happy and to remember their great trip to Norht Florida.

This review is based on several weeks of use. Solid, tough, compact camera. For the sensor size it has pretty good image quality. No shutter priority or manual modes. F-stops include 2.0, 2.8, and 8.0 at the wide end and 4.9, 6.3, and 18 at the long end. GPS seems to be fickle: getting a single in my house but not under canopy cover in the woods. Autofocus tracks subjects well but focus is slow at shutter release. All in all great for backpacking or other times where carrying around an interchangeable lens camera is not a viable option.

I got the TG-5 for a trip to Alaska where I didn't want to expose my high end Olympus OM-D camera to elements, such as salt water while kayaking. It has internal brains similar to the higher end offerings such as the OM-D line. So it's a tiny powerhouse for those who are familiar with those feature sets, but it's also pretty smart about getting the shot even if you are approaching it from a beginner's perspective. The 12 MP resolution was entirely fine for the shots that I took with it.
